Meet Ellie Potvin

I had the privilege of having 8-year-old Artist Ellie Potvin and her mother Amy in the studio on Dec 14 for an oil painting lesson and a few fun hours at the easel.  Ellie is a beautiful, creative girl suffering from Stage 4 Relapse Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer.  I have been following Ellie through her CaringBridge website and have been praying for the Potvin Family.

Two of Ellie's paintings have been reproduced as limited edition high quality giclee prints (courtesy of Chromatype) are available online at anneneilsonfinart.com and in Charlotte at Studio 21 Fine Art (118 E Kingston Avenue) and my local gallery Sophia's Gallery (1528 East Blvd).  We look forward to offering additional prints soon -- she revisits the studio for another session this week!

Please remember sweet Ellie in your prayers.

Angels Inspire Discussion on 91.9 Morning Show

This morning, the Eric and Erica show on 91.9 New Life featured a discussion on finding your calling, inspired by Anne's article in this month's Today's Charlotte Woman magazine.  The hosts shared her story on the air and prompted callers to join in on the topic "What is God calling you to be?".

After getting a call from her husband that they were talking about her on the radio, Anne called in to the station and joined the conversation as well.

Here's an excerpt from co-host Erica Parkerson's blog:

The painter of angels

Anne Nielson is a painter of angels. She was already a wife and a mom, and an elementary school teacher making a significant impact on the world. But God had even more for this amazing woman - He put in her a burning desire to paint... angels. Now, the woman who once stood at her kitchen counter crying because she had no idea how to put her passion to paint into practice, has a work of art hanging in the Palace of Monaco.

What's God calling you to do?  It's no accident that you are alive today - like Esther for such a time as this. What did He put on your heart to be? To do?

Thanks, Erica and Eric, for sharing the story and for prompting such a great discussion!
