About Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care:

When the Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care team walks through each patient’s front door, the goal is to provide that “home care” environment of compassion and comfort for patients wherever they reside - in their family home, a long-term care facility, at the hospital or on the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital.

With a shift from curative to comfort care, Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care provides physical, emotional and spiritual care for patients at end of life and emotional and spiritual support for their families.

Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care provides hope, comfort and care to more than 5,000 families each year. Your support of Strokes of Compassion will help fund Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care’s planned expansion of the Harris Hospice Unit, a short-stay transitional unit – a home away from home – located at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

We invite you to Open a Door to Renewed Hope for the many families facing the end of life journey with a loved one.   www.presbyterian.org/hospice    704-384-6478

Red Dot Art Fair - March 3-6, New York City

Charlotte Artists Anne H. Neilson and Robert Langford Featured At Red Dot Art Fair in New York March 3-6

Portion of Proceeds to Benefit Local Charities

Charlotte, N.C., February 21, 2011 -- Charlotte-based artists Anne H. Neilson and Robert Langford are using their talents to help those less fortunate when they present an exhibition of new works March 3-6 at New York’s Red Dot Art Fair, one the most prestigious art events in the country. The artists will give back a portion of their proceeds from the exhibition to local organizations Lift Up Foundation and Allegro Foundation.

The Red Dot Art Fair coincides with Armory Arts Week, when collectors, galleries and general art enthusiasts descend upon New York City to view artwork at The Armory Show, Pulse Contemporary Art Fair, and the Red Dot Art Fair. Neilson and Langford’s work will be exhibited at Red Dot’s SOHO venue, 82 Mercer Street in Booth B105.

Art Charlotte will present Neilson and Langford’s work at Red Dot Art Fair, which creates a venue for art galleries seeking to present work of lasting value and beyond current trends. Art Charlotte will be among the approximately 50 international modern and contemporary art galleries that will feature painting, photography, sculpture and works on paper.

Neilson is recognized for her inspiring, ethereal Angel paintings which are stunning representations of her artistic flair for color and light. In addition to her popular Angel Series, Her repertoire includes dramatic landscapes featuring scenes from her travels. Neilson lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband and their four children and her work hangs in both public and private collections internationally.

Langford’s painting's are enhanced by the energetic use of color, relying on the tension between the spontaneous and the consciously executed for the striking vitality. His methods are perfectly evident as he covers and uncovers, delineates and sweeps over the shapes on the canvas and panels. His extensive list of exhibitions includes “Spotlight on Southern Artist” at Trinity School in Atlanta in 2004, and a 2009 solo show at the Edge Gallery in Philadelphia. Langford has also created work for the Longview Museum of Fine Art in Longview, Texas, and his work hangs in private and corporate collections throughout the country.

Neilson, who is a longtime supporter of both Lift Up Foundation and Allegro Foundation states, “I thank Robert for joining me in my efforts to help others by donating a portion of our sales to these outstanding organizations. ”

Lift Up Foundation was launched by the parents of Ellie Shoal Potvin, who was only 6 years old when diagnosed with stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of pediatric cancer. While battling cancer, Ellie embarked on her dream to become a professional artist under Neilson’s tutelage. On June 23, 2010, Ellie lost her battle against cancer, but not before being honored at her first art gallery opening in February 2010 at Studio 21 in Charlotte. Five of Ellie's original works were made into limited edition fine art prints and have sold all around the world with 100% of proceeds benefitting the Lift Up Foundation.  Sales from two of Ellie's works, “Blue Moon” and “Pinky Power,” at the Red Dot Art Fair will also benefit the foundation.

Neilson’s involvement with The Allegro Foundation dates back to 2009 when she donated three original works in support the foundation’s mission to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, Ambassador of Monaco Gilles Noghès and Mr. Lorenzo Ravano, Counselor at the Embassy of Monaco.  She has also worked with The Allegro Foundation to co-host two highly successful exhibitions of her Angel Series in Charlotte, NC.
