Using classical methods of drawing the figure, students will learn to create a beautiful figure drawing with selective and artistic use of line and values. Over four days we’ll cover how to build on the gesture with fundamental shapes, the anatomical landmarks needed in every drawing, how to create shadow shapes that give the figure volume, the importance of edges, and the secrets to varying your line and using your tools to create expressive beauty. Students will draw from live models, using charcoal and conte on toned papers (a materials list will be provided.) Course will begin with short poses and progress to longer poses. Beginners and intermediate artists are welcome.
